What about why stay in a homestay instead of a hotel in cherrapunji?

Sohra's best experiences, the root bridge treks, the waterfall viewpoints, the valley outlooks, are things a well placed home gives you more directly than a generic hotel room. Hosts here live with the weather every day, so they're usually the best source of current trail and road conditions, especially during monsoon when a few routes close for landslides. Most homes also cook, which matters more here than in a city: a plate of real Khasi food after a long trek is a different trip than a restau

What about 1. [4-bedroom homestay near the nongriat root bridge trail](/listings/mountain-retreat-with-majestic-waterfall-and-sunrise-views)?

The most reviewed home in Sohra by a wide margin, and the reason is simple: it sits close to the Double Decker root bridge trail, the single most-searched thing to do in Cherrapunji. Sunrise views over the valley, and the basics done right (hot water, clean rooms) rather than anything flashy.

What about 2. [10-bedroom valley-view resort, 5 minutes from the falls](/listings/resort-with-valley-views-in-cherrapunji-5-min-to-falls)?

The closest thing to a proper resort in Sohra: a bonfire area, table tennis, and free parking, five minutes from one of Cherrapunji's waterfalls. A good fit for a large family or a multi-family trip that wants resort-style space without leaving the verified-owner, homestay-run model.

What about 3. [14-bedroom homestay near seven sisters falls](/listings/waterfall-viewpoint-stay-cloud-kissed-balconies)?

Sohra's biggest whole-property option on Fursat, built for a genuinely large group: a wedding party, a company offsite, or several families travelling together. A dedicated workspace and free parking are useful details if part of the group is working remotely.

What about 4. [8-bedroom whole-property homestay](/listings/cherra-getaway-nature-warmth-and-stunning-views)?

Priced as one flat rate rather than per room, which makes the math simpler for a big group splitting a bill. One of Fursat's most-booked whole-property homes in Sohra.

What about 5. [2-bedroom homestay with valley views](/listings/charming-sohra-retreat-with-breathtaking-views)?

A smaller home for a couple or a small family, with the same valley-view draw as the bigger properties on this list at a fraction of the room count.

What about 6. [cliffside homestay with panoramic views](/listings/breathtaking-cliffside-haven-with-panoramic-views)?

Built into the edge of the hillside, with panoramic views most Sohra properties, set back from the ridge, can't match. A pick specifically for the view rather than the room count.

What about 7. [sunset-view homestay](/listings/luxury-cottage-stay-in-cherrapunji)?

Positioned for sunset rather than sunrise, a genuinely different view window from most of the list above. Priced as a whole property.

What about 8. [1-bedroom homestay in laitkynsew, near cherrapunji](/listings/the-ultimate-cloud-kissed-nature-retreat)?

Set in Laitkynsew, on the Sohra-Dawki road, an area known for some of the best valley and Bangladesh-plains views around Cherrapunji, a short drive from the town centre.

What about 9. [11-bedroom homestay with a garden and bonfire area](/listings/cherrapunji-home-with-garden-valley-and-sunrise-views)?

One of Sohra's largest whole-property homes, with a barbecue setup built in, more suited to a multi-day group stay than a one-night stop.

What about 10. [4-bedroom cottage with a kitchen, near seven sisters falls](/listings/stunning-cottage-by-seven-sisters-waterfall)?

Its own kitchen, useful if the group wants to cook rather than rely on the host's meals every night, close to Seven Sisters Falls.

What about 11. [homestay in cherrapunji with clean rooms and good food](/listings/valley-view-exceptional-hosts-clean-room-and-food)?

Consistently cited for the host's food specifically, at a clean-room, whole-property price point that's easy to justify for a short stay.

What about 12. [6-bedroom homestay with a falls view](/listings/the-ultimate-waterfall-sanctuary-for-peace-seekers)?

The highest-rated home on this list, with a direct falls view, further out from the town centre and better suited to travellers who want quiet over convenience.
