The home is a good starting point for exploring the Kumaon region. Mukteshwar Temple, a 350-year-old Shiva temple, is a short drive away. Next to it is Chauli Ki Jali, a cliff edge with sweeping views, popular for rappelling and rock climbing.
For wildlife, Jim Corbett National Park is a longer day trip. The park is one of India's premier tiger reserves, best visited between October and June. Plan your safari and book your entry from the Ramnagar gate in advance.
The closest airport for the Kumaon region is in Pantnagar (PGH). The nearest major railhead is Kathgodam (KGM). From either Pantnagar or Kathgodam, you can hire a taxi for the final leg of the journey to Mukteshwar. The drive from Kathgodam takes around 2-3 hours. Nainital serves as the main road hub for the area.
The mountains are welcoming year-round, but the best seasons are spring and summer (March to June) for clear skies and pleasant weather, and post-monsoon (September to November) for crisp air and green landscapes. The monsoon months of July and August can bring heavy rain and potential landslides. The highest reaches of the region, like Auli or Chopta, see heavy snowfall and close from December to February, but the Mukteshwar belt generally remains accessible.
