A look around
What's here
You arrive to a series of wooden steps leading up the hillside. The home is built in tiers, with red-painted roofs and simple wooden railings. A small patch of garden sits in the courtyard. The air is quiet here, away from the traffic of the main town. Inside, the home has one large bedroom, one bathroom, and can accommodate up to six guests with its flexible sleeping arrangements. The rooms are clean and straightforward, with king-sized beds and views of the surrounding hills. There is a balcony and several outdoor seating spots to take in the mountain air. While meals are not included by default, you have access to a kitchen to prepare your own food. The owners are known for being friendly and the staff for being helpful. As one guest, Monika Mishra, put it, the home "truly lives up to its name - peaceful, well-maintained, and away from the hustle." Another guest, Amit Singh, noted that the "staff were polite, responsive, and always ready to help, which made the experience even better."

Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

The home is a good starting point for exploring the Kumaon region.

Mukteshwar Temple & Chauli Ki Jali. A short drive away, this 350-year-old Shiva temple offers wide views of the Himalayan range. Next to it is Chauli Ki Jali, a cliff edge with an overhang popular for rock climbing and rappelling, or just for the expansive valley views.

Jim Corbett National Park. About a three-hour drive away is the Ramnagar gate, an entry point to India's oldest national park. The park is open from October to June and is one of the best places in the country to see tigers in the wild. Plan for a full-day safari.

Logistics

Getting there.

The home is in the Kumaon region of the Western Himalaya.

By air: The nearest airport is in Pantnagar (PGH), which is a 3 to 4-hour drive away. By rail: The closest major railhead is Kathgodam (KGM), about a 2 to 3-hour drive. Taxis are readily available from the station. By road: Mukteshwar is well-connected by road. It is about 50 km from the regional hub of Nainital.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The weather is pleasant year-round, but the best times are from March to June and again from September to November, when the skies are clear and the Himalayan views are sharp. The monsoon season (July-August) can bring heavy rain and the risk of landslides on mountain roads. High-altitude destinations nearby may close due to snow from December to February.
