“Excellent hotel with beautiful hospitality. Manager Mr. Kishore is a amazing person.”
The home is a good base for exploring the heart of Spiti. The iconic Ki Monastery, a key centre of Tibetan Buddhism, is visible from your room and a short drive away. Further up the road is Kibber, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, offering a glimpse into traditional Spitian life. The main town of Kaza, with its market and cafes, is also easily accessible. For the adventurous, the entire Spiti loop offers dramatic landscapes, from the high passes of Kunzum La to the ancient Tabo Monastery, though this requires several days. The journey itself, passing through the 9km-long Atal Tunnel to cross from the Kullu valley into Lahaul & Spiti, is an experience.
The most common route into Spiti is by road from Manali, which is the nearest major road hub.
The best time to visit Spiti is from June to October, when the road from Manali is open and the weather is pleasant for travel. September and October offer the clearest skies after the monsoon, ideal for photography and stargazing. The region is cut off by road from the Manali side from November to May due to heavy snowfall on the high passes.
