“We had a truly wonderful stay at this property Homestay in Kaza. What made the experience memorable wasn't just the comfort of the stay, but the warmth and kindness of the hosts. Dorje, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed — from providing us with an electric kettle and milk to even h...”

“One of the best stays during our this property trip, hands down. The food was just amazing — fresh, homely, and exactly what you crave after exploring all day. The hospitality was top-notch, the hosts are super welcoming and make you feel like family. Also, the location is perfect — it’s peaceful but still well connected to the market, so you don’t feel cut...”
“Quite and great place to stay. Owner and his family was so kind and they treated us like family. Great service, homely food, and friendly in nature. Worth staying.”
Kaza is the main town and an ideal base for exploring the Spiti Valley.
The Spiti Circuit is the main draw. This includes a visit to the iconic Ki Monastery, perched on a hilltop, and the village of Kibber, once one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. These are typically day trips from Kaza. The roads are rough, but the landscapes of barren, multi-hued mountains are worth the journey. This circuit is only accessible by road from Manali between June and October when the high passes are clear of snow.
The Atal Tunnel and Solang Valley are on the Manali side of the journey into Spiti. The 9km Atal Tunnel provides year-round access to Lahaul from Manali, cutting down travel time significantly and bypassing the treacherous Rohtang Pass.
By Road: Kaza is accessible via two main routes. The most common is from Manali (approx. 200 km), a journey of 8-10 hours over the high-altitude Kunzum Pass. This route is only open from June to October. The other route is from Shimla via the Kinnaur valley (approx. 450 km), which is a longer, two-day drive but stays open for more of the year.
By Air: The nearest airport for the Manali route is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu. For the Shimla route, the airport is at Jubbarhatti (SLV), though flights are limited. The most reliable, all-weather airport is Chandigarh (IXC), from where you can hire a taxi for the multi-day drive.
By Rail: The nearest major railhead is in Chandigarh. From there, you would continue by road. For the Shimla route, you can take the UNESCO heritage toy train from Kalka to Shimla and then proceed by road.
The best time to visit Spiti is from June to October. This is when the snow has melted on the high passes, and the roads from Manali are open. The weather is pleasant during the day, though nights are always cold. September and October offer crisp, clear skies after the monsoon, with brilliant blue skies against the brown mountains. Winters (December to February) are extremely harsh, with heavy snowfall cutting off road access completely.
