Things to do nearby.
The home is a good starting point for exploring the Parvati Valley. Manikaran Sahib, the Sikh gurdwara known for its hot springs and community kitchen, is just 4km away. You can have a simple, warm meal at the langar any time of day.
For a short walk, a trail from Kasol leads to Chalal village, about a 30-minute walk along the river. The trail is mostly flat, passing through pine forests.
Further up the valley is Barshaini, the last stop for vehicles. From here, you can trek to Kheerganga (a 12km walk to hot springs at high altitude) or explore the small villages of Tosh, Pulga, and Kalga on foot. The old village of Malana, with its unique customs, is a 4km uphill walk from the road at Jari.
Getting there.
The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu, about 30km away. It has limited flights. The next best option is Chandigarh (IXC), a major airport about 285km away, which is a 9-hour drive.
The closest major railway station is in Pathankot, about 250km away. From there, it's a 7 to 8-hour drive to Kasol.
By road, you will drive through Bhuntar, which is the main junction to enter the Parvati Valley. The home is on the main road in Kasol, just before the town center.
Best time to visit.
The best months to visit are from March to June, when the weather is clear and pleasant. A second window opens after the monsoon, from September to November, with crisp air and autumn colours.
The monsoon months of July and August see heavy rain, and the risk of landslides and road closures is high. Winters are cold, with snowfall common, but the valley remains accessible.
