Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

Dehradun is the gateway to the Garhwal region. From here, you can make a day trip to Rishikesh, about an hour's drive away, to see the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan each evening. For those planning longer treks, the trailheads for Chopta, which leads to the Tungnath temple, and the Valley of Flowers National Park are a day's drive away. In the winter months, the ski slopes of Auli are accessible, offering wide meadows of oak and rhododendron when not covered in snow.

Logistics

Getting there.

The closest airport is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport (DED), which serves the entire Garhwal region. The nearest major railhead is in Haridwar, from where you can get a taxi or bus for the final leg of the journey to Dehradun. The city is well-connected by road and serves as the main hub for transport heading towards Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and the Char Dham pilgrimage routes.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The best time for clear skies and pleasant weather is from March to June and again from September to November. The monsoon season, in July and August, can bring heavy rain and the risk of landslides on mountain roads. The high-altitude destinations like Auli and Chopta often close due to heavy snowfall from December to February, but Dehradun itself remains accessible year-round.
