A look around
What's here
The final stretch of road to the home is a bumpy one, a sign that you're leaving the main town behind. The building is made of local stone, set into the hillside across multiple levels, with terraced gardens and seating areas that light up in the evening. Inside, the home has seven bedrooms, each with its own attached bathroom. The rooms are clean and spacious, with large windows and sliding doors that open onto private balconies. From here, you can see what guests often remember most: "The breathtaking view of the green hills and misty mountains was truly refreshing." The beds are king-sized, and the simple, modern finish gives the space a feeling of calm. There is a covered swimming pool on one of the lower levels, looking out towards the valley. It is heated, though some guests have found it too cold for a dip in the harsh winter months. The heart of the stay, for many, is the service. As one guest put it, "The staff is really friendly, courteous, and always ready to help." The in-house kitchen team prepares meals that are consistently described as fresh and flavorful. Another guest noted, "The food here deserves a special mention - flavorful, freshly prepared and served with care."

Had a lovely stay at Orrilia Hotel, this property. The food was really good and the staff was extremely courteous — their service was honestly amazing and made us feel very comfortable throughout the stay. The only thing they could improve is the room maintenance, as the property is starting this property feel a little old in some areas. Apart from that, we...

Logistics

Getting there.

Kasauli is best reached by road from the plains.

By Air: The nearest major airport is Chandigarh International Airport (IXC). From there, it is a 2-3 hour drive up to Kasauli. The Shimla airport (SLV) at Jubbarhatti is closer but has very limited and weather-dependent flights.

By Rail: The nearest major railway station is Kalka (KLK), about an hour's drive away. Kalka is also the starting point for the UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla toy train, a slower but scenic way to enter the hills. The main railhead with connections to all major Indian cities is Chandigarh (CDG).

By Road: Kasauli is well-connected by road to Chandigarh, Shimla, and Delhi. Expect winding, single-lane hill roads for the final ascent.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The best months to visit Kasauli are from March to June, when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear. A second window opens up after the monsoon, from September to November, offering crisp air and green landscapes.

The monsoon months of July and August see heavy rainfall, which can cause landslides and difficult road conditions on the highways. Winters, from December to February, are cold, and while Kasauli doesn't always get heavy snow, the nights are chilly and frosts are common.
