Things to do nearby.

The Khasi & Jaintia Hills are a landscape of waterfalls, caves, and living architecture. From the home, you can drive to some of Meghalaya’s most well-known sights.

The living root bridges are a worth seeing. The most famous, the double-decker bridge in Nongriat, is a challenging but rewarding trek involving a descent of over 3,500 steps.

Near Cherrapunji, you can explore the Mawsmai and Krem Phyllut caves. These limestone caves are well-lit and accessible, offering a glimpse into the region's unique geology.

The Umngot river in Dawki, on the border with Bangladesh, is known for its crystal-clear water, especially from January to March. You can take a boat ride on what looks like a sheet of glass.

Mawlynnong, often called Asia's cleanest village, is a short drive away. Walk through its tidy lanes and climb the Riwai sky walk for a view over the canopy and across to Bangladesh.

Nohkalikai Falls, India's tallest plunge waterfall at 340 metres, is a powerful sight, especially during the monsoon season.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The best time to visit the Khasi Hills is from October to April, when the weather is dry and the skies are generally clear. This is the ideal season for trekking and sightseeing.

The monsoon season, from June to September, is intense. Cherrapunji is one of the wettest places on Earth, receiving over 10,000mm of rain. While some waterfalls and caves may be closed, the landscape transforms into an impossibly lush green.
