Nearest railhead: Jammu Tawi (700km) – via Srinagar by road. There is no rail in Ladakh.
The best time to visit Ladakh is during the summer months, from June to September. October sees road closures; Leh-Manali shuts mid-October, and Leh-Srinagar shuts end-November.
