Ninh Binh

• 08:00Limousine bus from Hanoi to Ninh Binh (2 hrs, 350-525 INR). Check into homestay in Tam Coc area.
• 13:00Tam Coc Boat Ride (525 INR + 175 INR boat) -- 2-hour row through three caves, rice paddies, and limestone karsts. The rowers use their feet.
• 15:30Bich Dong Pagoda -- three-level pagoda carved into a cliff. 15-min walk from boat station.
• 17:00Rent a bicycle and ride through rice paddies at sunset (280-525 INR). Home-cooked dinner at homestay (350-525 INR).

Ha Long Bay

• 06:00Mua Cave (350 INR) -- climb 500 steps for the most iconic viewpoint in Ninh Binh. Panorama of karsts and rivers.
• 09:00Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (UNESCO, 875 INR) -- 3-hour boat ride through caves and waterways.
• 14:00Transfer to Ha Long Bay (4-5 hrs). Board overnight cruise by evening.
• 18:00Sunset cruise. Seafood dinner on board. Kayaking and squid fishing.

On Train

• 06:30Wake on the bay. Tai chi on deck. Breakfast. Disembark by 11 AM.
• 12:00Transfer back to Hanoi. Free afternoon in Hanoi -- last-minute shopping or rest.
• 20:00Board Reunification Express night train to Hue (13-14 hrs). Soft sleeper 4-berth cabin with AC and charging points. An experience in itself.

Hue

• 08:00Arrive Hue. Grab to hotel. Freshen up. Breakfast: Bun Bo Hue at O Phuong (122 INR) -- spicy beef noodle soup with lemongrass, far more complex than pho.
• 12:00Imperial Citadel / Dai Noi (700 INR) -- the Forbidden City of Vietnam. Destroyed in 1968 Tet Offensive, partially restored. Allow 2-3 hours.
• 15:00Thien Mu Pagoda (free) on the Perfume River bank. Iconic 7-story tower (1601). Dragon boat ride on the Perfume River (1,050-1,750 INR per boat).
• 18:00Royal Hue cuisine dinner -- com hen (clam rice), banh beo (steamed rice cakes), banh loc (clear shrimp dumplings) at Hanh Restaurant (280-420 INR).

Hoi An

• 08:00Private car over the Hai Van Pass -- the Top Gear 'best coast road in the world'. Jaw-dropping coastal views. Hue to Hoi An via pass (4,200-5,250 INR per car).
• 12:00Arrive Hoi An. Check into boutique hotel. Lunch on your own.
• 15:00Hoi An Ancient Town at leisure. Japanese Covered Bridge, assembly halls, old merchant houses.
• 18:00Lanterns illuminate the Ancient Town at dusk. Hoi An Night Market on Nguyen Hoang Street. Thu Bon River walk.

Hoi An

• 08:00Heritage ticket (420 INR). Japanese Covered Bridge, Fujian Assembly Hall, Tan Ky Old House. Visit a tailor shop for custom suits or dresses.
• 13:00Cooking class (1,900-2,900 INR) with market visit. Or: My Son Sanctuary (UNESCO, 525 INR + 1,050-1,400 INR tour) -- Vietnam's Angkor Wat.
• 17:00Basket Boat Ride in coconut palm forest (630 INR). Dinner: Banh Mi Phuong (105 INR) -- 'a symphony in a sandwich'.

Da Nang

• 08:00Transfer to Da Nang (35 min). Marble Mountains / Ngu Hanh Son (140 INR entry + 52 INR elevator). Five marble hills with caves, tunnels, Buddhist sanctuaries.
• 13:00My Khe Beach -- named one of the world's most luxurious beaches by Forbes. Free. Sunbed 105-175 INR.
• 18:00Dragon Bridge -- on weekends at 9 PM the dragon breathes fire and water. Seafood dinner at Be Man (1,400-2,100 INR for two).

Ho Chi Minh City

• 07:00Flight Da Nang to HCMC (1.5 hrs). Grab to District 1. Check into hotel.
• 11:00Cu Chi Tunnels guided half-day tour. Crawl through tunnels, see booby traps, learn wartime history.
• 14:30War Remnants Museum (140 INR). Notre-Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office.
• 17:00Ben Thanh Market. Saigon Skydeck sunset (700 INR). Dinner: Banh Xeo 46A (210-280 INR).

Ho Chi Minh City

• 07:00Mekong Delta day trip (depart 7-8 AM). Drive to My Tho / Ben Tre (1.5-2 hrs). Cruise narrow canals through coconut palm forests. Visit coconut candy workshop.
• 12:00Tropical fruit orchards -- dragon fruit, rambutan, mangosteen fresh off the tree. Lunch: elephant ear fish (ca tai tuong) grilled whole with rice paper and herbs.
• 17:00Return to HCMC. Farewell dinner: Cuc Gach Quan (700-1,050 INR) -- Vietnamese home-cooking in a converted villa. Transfer to airport or overnight.

BEST TIME: March-April or October-November for the whole north-to-south route.
