“We went in May and booked 2 rooms for 4 people, but only 1 room with Mountain View was available, we enjoyed the view of Kanchenjunga from the balcony, another room with no view. “The hotel is located in lower Peling,so the place is less crowdy. Rooms are clean and tidy. Service is also good and the staffs are very polite. The hotel has two floors and they also have a bar-cum-restuarant. They are adding more floors to the hotel. If anyone want a peaceful stay in lower pelling its one of the place to stay. And one can enjoy the views ...”
“Must say very very good rooms .. better than many luxurious hotel rooms. Very good behavior of owner and all other. We had some issues and the owner helped us very kindly.. if u r lucky u may get very nice view of Kanchenjunga.”
“Staffs were very humble, polite Rooms were clean and well maintained. Bathroom was very clean. Hoter water available in each room just need to call to the reception to put on the geyser of specific room. Snowy mountains view from the balcony was just mesmerizing ❤️ Food quality was good overall.”
Pelling is a good base for exploring West Sikkim's history and nature. The Pemayangtse Monastery, a major 17th-century seat of the Nyingma order, is perched on a ridge just above the valley, with its own frame for the Kanchenjunga range. About 30km away, hidden in a dense forest, is Khecheopalri Lake, a sacred wishing lake where the water is kept clean by birds picking up fallen leaves.
The first capital of Sikkim, Yuksom, is 32km away. It’s a quiet, historic town and the starting point for the famous Goecha La and Dzongri treks. For a different kind of view, the Singshore Bridge, one of the highest gorge bridges in Asia, is also about 30km from Pelling. Closer by, a 7km drive or a walk through the forest leads to the Rabdentse ruins, the atmospheric remains of Sikkim's second capital. For those who like a walk, the Sangachoeling Monastery, older than Pemayangtse, is a 40-minute uphill hike. The Pelling Sky Walk offers a glass platform with wide-open views of the valley and the giant Chenrezig statue.
The main entry points to Sikkim are in the plains of West Bengal. By air: Bagdogra Airport (IXB) is the most reliable airport, about 160km or a 5-hour drive from Pelling. Sikkim's own airport, Pakyong (PYG), is closer at 130km but flights are often cancelled due to weather. By rail: New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is the nearest major railway station, around 150km away. The drive to Pelling takes about 5 hours. By road: Pelling is well-connected to other parts of Sikkim. Gangtok, the capital, is 130km away (a 4-5 hour drive). Jorethang, a key junction town, is 75km away.
The best time to visit Pelling is from October to mid-June. The autumn months, from October to December, offer crisp air and the clearest views of Kanchenjunga. Spring, from March to May, is when the rhododendrons are in bloom. The monsoon season, from late June to September, brings heavy rain and often causes landslides on the road to Pelling, making travel risky.
