Kanchenjunga Views, Lake Walk, Family Lodge Sikkim in Pelling, sikkim, hero photo
A family-run home in Aritar, Sikkim, a short walk from the lake. The days are quiet, with views of the Kanchenjunga range from the rooftop. All six rooms have their own bathroom and hot water. Meals are cooked in the family kitchen - often with vegetables from their own organic garden. The hosts are welcoming, and so are their pets, Cookie the cat and Shimbha the dog.

What's here
The first thing you notice is the quiet. Mornings here are for the sound of birds, not traffic. This is a simple, spacious home run by two siblings, set close to nature and a short walk from Aritar Lake. The home has six bedrooms, each with its own attached bathroom. Hot water is available from a geyser in every bathroom, and the rooms are kept neat and clean. Some rooms open onto a balcony. The layout is straightforward, designed to accommodate families and large groups comfortably, with a total of six beds for up to 26 people. The real gathering spot is the rooftop, where on a clear day, the entire Kanchenjunga range is visible. This is a place where food is part of the stay. All meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - are included. The kitchen is homely, and as one guest noted, "half of the veggies come from their own organic farms." Breakfast might be Maggi prepared with fresh vegetables. Dinner could be a memorable Chicken Masala, served while a "Nepali playlist was cherry on the top." It’s simple, delicious food, cooked with care. The home is both kid-friendly and pet-friendly. The hosts’ own cat and dog, Cookie and Shimbha, are often around, adding to the feeling of being in a family home. As a guest with children mentioned, "Kids enjoyed the place as they got to enjoy with cookie(the cat) and Shimbha(the dog)." The hosts are polite and helpful, trying to accommodate every request. Wi-Fi, on-site parking, and power backup are all provided.

Things to do nearby.

The home’s location is its main attraction. It is, as one guest put it, "a stone's throw from the Aritar Lake." A short walk will take you to the shores of Lampokhari, one of Sikkim's oldest natural lakes, good for a quiet walk or boating.

For views, guests recommend a trip to Mankhim. It's a nearby viewpoint and temple that offers a panoramic look at the mountains and valleys. One visitor's advice was simple: "Don't miss sunset at Mankhim."
