A look around
What's here
The drive ends at a wide gravel courtyard framed by trees and open sky. Morning sun hits the front balcony early, throwing light across the upper floor before the daily traffic along the Khasi Hills routes picks up. Inside, the home is arranged for practical group travel, offering 1 bedroom equipped with 18 beds and 18 bathrooms to accommodate up to 36 guests across simple, spacious quarters. The interior setup focuses on clean basics. Bed setups feature solid timber frames with simple linens, while broad windows pull in natural light and mountain air. Ceiling fans keep the air moving on warmer afternoons, and balcony access on the upper level looks out toward the surrounding tree canopy. Attached bathrooms provide curtained shower areas and direct hot water access. Outside, the large gravel front area gives drivers ample room to maneuver and park large vehicles off the main road. Dining takes place in the in-house restaurant, where the kitchen team prepares dishes fresh on order. Guest reviews highlight the attention to food and quiet efficiency of the staff. One traveler noted, "The boys in the kitchen work like professional chefs best food best service." For guests setting off before sunrise to catch early boat rides or beat mountain traffic, the kitchen handles early departures smoothly. Another guest shared, "As we planned to leave early at 6 am, they gave us a packet of bread and a jam bottle for breakfast." Overall, visitors appreciate the functional layout, writing that "Rooms are clean, specious and well maintained" and noting that "Staff is friendly and helpful."

Logistics

Getting there.

Shillong Airport at Umroi is located 30km away. Flights into Umroi remain limited and operate primarily via Kolkata, with schedules depending heavily on clear weather conditions.

Guwahati Airport is 100km north and serves as the primary aviation hub for the region. The drive up into the hills takes roughly 3 hours along the NH6 highway.

Guwahati Railway Station, located 100km away, is the nearest major rail hub, as Meghalaya has no interior railway network.

Police Bazar acts as the central transport hub in Shillong, where local taxis, private cabs, and shared Sumo utility vehicles gather daily.

Umiam Lake sits 17km north along the Guwahati road. The reservoir viewpoint offers a scenic stopping point to pause for tea during the drive into Shillong.

Cherrapunji lies 53km south of the property, taking approximately 2 hours by road to reach the waterfall, canyon, and cave circuits.

Dawki rests 95km south along the international border, where travelers go to see the clear waters of the Umngot river.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

October through April brings dry weather and bright skies across Shillong and the surrounding Khasi Hills. Clear mornings during these months provide optimal visibility for valley views and road trips. The monsoon season spans June through September, bringing heavy rainfall that fills local waterfalls. While Shillong town remains walkable during rains, rural roads can grow slick and outdoor sight access may close temporarily during peak downpours.
