A look around
What's here
The journey ends where the pavement stops, followed by a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk across paddy fields and wooden footbridges. You hear the small stream before you see the yellow-walled home standing against green hills. The air smells of wet earth and pine, and the grounds unfold into manicured lawns, brick walkways, and a swimming pool filled directly with cold river water. The home offers five bedrooms, five beds, and five bathrooms, hosting up to ten guests. Inside, broad windows frame the surrounding fields and ridges. The outdoor living spaces feature open lawns, a garden area marked by a painted wooden archway, and seating positioned toward the hills. Guests often point to the remoteness as the defining feature of their stay. One visitor noted that the home is "Literally in the middle of nowhere." Another shared that "A small stream nearby made the place feel truly peaceful." The pool remains a central feature, with one guest remarking, "There's a fresh water swimming pool that has water directly sourced from a nearby river so that's unique, though it was extremely cold water." On cool evenings, staff help light bonfires on the lawn under clear night skies.

I had such an amazing time here! The rooms are absolutely stunning, and the scenery is beautiful and rustic. The food was okay, but you can’t expect much when you’re in such a remote location. The service was fantastic! The only thing I’d say is that the ATVs were a disappointment. There were only two, and both were in pretty rough shape. One barely went at ...

Literally in the middle of nowhere. This place is too good to be true. Rooms were good and the courtyard and the swimming pool area were well maintained. Staff was of young boys and they were very helpful and well mannered. Be mindful, reaching this place requires a 15min easy walk through surrounding fields. Hit recommend this place for a digital detox a...

I had a wonderful stay here. A mommy dog and her baby dog stayed around with us, and we spent a cozy bonfire night together — it was such a heart-warming experience. The natural surroundings and hills are absolutely awesome, and the small stream nearby made the place feel truly peaceful. It honestly felt like heaven. A perfect place to relax and connect with...

Property is well built and maintained, good, clean rooms. We had rented an entire villa there that had 3 rooms, 2 washrooms and 2 drawing rooms, one on ground and other on 1st floor. There's a fresh water swimming pool that has water directly sourced from a nearby river so that's unique, though it was extremely cold water. Property has large areas of fields...

Very scenic and peaceful place with fishing pond, swimming pool, stream, big play ground for kids, cycling , ATV. Staffs are very helpful. Only disadvantage is you have to walk/trek through paddy field for about 15-20 minutes to reach the place so it's not advisable for elderly people. Owner should not allow pet Dogs please. On our last visit one family came...

Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

Krang Suri Falls sits within driving distance, famous for its turquoise water and natural pool. Plan to visit during the morning hours for the best light, and bring a change of clothes if you intend to swim.

Thadlaskein Lake offers a historical stop tied to legends of U Tirot Sing. It serves as a calm spot for afternoon walks along the water's edge.

Nartiang Monoliths features one of the largest clusters of historic standing stones in the world. The site preserves centuries of Jaintia royal history and takes about an hour to explore fully on foot.

Nartiang Durga Temple stands close to the monoliths and is recognized as one of Meghalaya's 51 Shakti Peeths. The ancient structure holds deep ritual significance in the region.

Ialong Park sits on a hilltop at the edge of town, providing panoramic views over the valley and surrounding countryside. It is best visited in late afternoon as the sun dips behind the ridges.

Logistics

Getting there.

Guwahati Airport (GAU) is the primary long-haul arrival point, located 160 km away. The drive from Guwahati to Jowai takes around four to five hours depending on traffic out of the city. Shillong Airport (SHL) at Umroi is closer at 80 km, though flight options are limited and mostly route through Kolkata.

Guwahati Railway Station is the nearest railhead, situated 160 km from the property, as Meghalaya has no direct rail network.

By road, Shillong sits 64 km to the west, roughly a two-hour drive along NH-6. Dawki, the border town along the Umngot River, lies 65 km south, making it accessible for a day trip.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

October through April brings dry weather, blue skies, and clear views across the Jaintia Hills. Days are bright and cool, while nights between December and February grow cold enough to call for extra layers around the evening bonfire. Monsoon runs from June to September, bringing heavy rainfall that fills local streams and waterfalls to full capacity. While the landscape turns bright green during these months, trails through the fields get muddy and footbridges can be slippery.
