By Air: The most reliable airport is Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh (IXC). From there, it is a 6-7 hour taxi ride to Barot. The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu-Manali, which is about 4 hours away, but it has limited flights that are often dependent on weather.

By Rail: The nearest major railway station is in Chandigarh (IXC). You can also take a train to Pathankot (PTK), which is a similar distance away. From either station, you will need to hire a taxi for the final leg of the journey.

By Road: Barot is well-connected by road from Mandi, which is the main hub in the region. The drive from cities like Delhi or Chandigarh takes you through Mandi and offers scenic views as you climb into the hills.

The best time to visit Barot is from March to June, when the weather is pleasant and the snow from winter has melted. The skies are generally clear.

A second window is from September to November, after the monsoon. The landscape is lush and green, and the air is crisp.

The monsoon months of July and August see heavy rainfall, which can cause landslides on the approach roads like NH-3 and NH-21. Winter, from December to February, is cold, and the higher reaches around the valley may receive snowfall.
