“A row of A-frame mud homes in the Western Himalaya. Each is a duplex, with a main bed below and a wooden ladder leading to a cozy loft space. Big glass fronts let the sunlight in. The evenings are for bonfires in the courtyard, with meals from the on-site cafe. A simple, warm mountain stay. Breakfast is on us.”
The road ends in a gravel courtyard, fronted by a line of A-frame cabins. Their walls are earthen, their roofs metal, a simple mountain-hut design against the Himalayan sky. This home is a collection of five private, duplex-style rooms, each with its own entrance.
Inside, the space is simple and warm. The lower level has a king-sized bed against a mud-finished wall, while a sturdy wooden ladder leads up to a pine-clad loft. This upper area works as a snug sleeping space for an extra person or a quiet spot to read. Large glass windows at the front of the cabin let in plenty of sunlight and frame the mountain views. As one guest, Ankit, put it, the design gives it a "very scenic, mountain-hut vibe that is great for photos."
Each of the five bedrooms has its own attached bathroom, complete with a shower and a geyser for hot water. The home is both kid-friendly and pet-friendly, and there is parking available on site.
While the rooms offer privacy, the courtyard is the social heart of the property. In the evenings, guests gather around a bonfire. There is an on-site café that serves meals, and the complimentary breakfast has been called "delicious with lots of options" by guests. The caretaker, Harish, is often mentioned for his friendly and efficient service. Another guest notes, "View from the mud house is just so dreamy and beautiful. Food and everything is so light and delicious."

Around the stay
Things to do nearby.
The home is a good base for exploring the Kullu valley and beyond.
Solang Valley & Atal Tunnel: A year-round destination for adventure sports. In winter, it's skiing and snowboarding. In summer, it’s zorbing and paragliding. The nearby Atal Tunnel, an engineering marvel at over 9km long, provides all-weather access to Lahaul, cutting travel time significantly.
Manali Town: Explore the bustling hub of Manali. Visit the ancient Hadimba Devi temple, built around a cave and surrounded by a cedar forest. Wander through the lanes of Old Manali for its cafes and shops, or visit the Vashisht temple for its hot springs.
Triund Trek: From McLeodganj, a few hours' drive away, the Triund trek is a popular day-hike. It’s a 4-hour walk up to a grassy ridge that offers a direct, wall-like view of the Dhauladhar mountain range.
Bir-Billing: Known as the paragliding capital of India, Bir-Billing is about a 3-4 hour drive. The takeoff point at Billing is the world's second-highest. The peak season for flying is October and November when the thermals are ideal.
Spiti Valley Loop: For the more adventurous, Manali is the gateway to the high-altitude desert of Spiti Valley. The road is typically open from June to October. This is a multi-day journey to places like Kaza, Ki Monastery, and the village of Kibber.
Logistics
Getting there.
By Air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu-Manali. It has limited flights, which are weather-dependent. The most reliable and larger airport is Chandigarh International Airport (IXC), a 6-8 hour drive away.
By Rail: The nearest major railhead is in Chandigarh (CDG). From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus into Himachal. For a scenic, slower journey into the Shimla region, the UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla toy train from Kalka (KLK) is an option.
By Road: The property is accessible by road. Manali serves as the main road hub for the Kullu region, connecting it to Chandigarh, Delhi, and other parts of Himachal.
Seasons
Best time to visit.
The best time to visit is during two main windows. The spring and summer months, from March to June, see the snow melt, with pleasant weather perfect for trekking and sightseeing. The second window is post-monsoon, from September to November, when the skies are clear and the views of the snow-capped peaks are sharpest.
The monsoon months of July and August are best avoided, as heavy rains can cause landslides on the national highways. Winter, from December to February, brings heavy snow to the upper reaches, which can be beautiful but may also lead to road closures.
