A look around
What's here
The road to the home winds through Haripur, away from the noise of the main market. You will pass apple orchards and tall pine trees. The house itself is built with local stone and wood, with large windows and balconies on every floor. Inside, there are fourteen private bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and king-sized bed. The rooms have vaulted ceilings and walls panelled in warm-toned wood. Every room opens onto a private balcony with seating, a place to watch the misty mountains in the morning. The common area has a large stone fireplace that reaches up to the second floor, with seating for groups to gather. The kitchen serves simple, home-style meals with a touch of local Himachali flavour. The staff, managed by Rupesh, can arrange for bonfires in the evening. As one guest wrote, "The rooms were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated with a warm wooden touch that gave a true Himachali vibe." Another mentioned the staff, saying they were "attentive, polite, and always ready to assist with a smile, whether it was arranging transport, suggesting local attractions, or simply ensuring my comfort."

Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

The home is a good starting point for exploring the Kullu valley. A short drive takes you to the Solang Valley, known for its meadows and adventure sports. From there, you can drive through the Atal Tunnel, the 9km pass that connects Manali to the Lahaul valley year-round.

In Manali town, you can visit the Hadimba Devi temple, a four-tiered pagoda surrounded by a cedar forest. The lanes of Old Manali are full of small cafes and shops, and a short walk away are the Vashisht hot springs. For a longer day trip, the road from Manali is the primary route into the Spiti valley, open from June to October.

Logistics

Getting there.

By air, the nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu, about a 90-minute drive from Manali. Flights here are limited and can be affected by weather. The most reliable major airport is Chandigarh International Airport (IXC), which is a 7-8 hour drive away.

By rail, the nearest major railhead is in Chandigarh. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Manali. Pathankot is another option, serving as the railhead for the western part of Himachal.

By road, Manali is a major hub in the Western Himalayas. Regular buses, both state-run and private, connect it to Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla. The drive from Delhi takes about 12-14 hours.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The clearest weather is from March to June, when the snow melts and summer arrives, and again from September to November, after the monsoon, when the skies are clear and the views are sharp. July and August are the monsoon months, which can bring heavy rain and landslides on the national highways. From December to February, the upper reaches of Manali receive heavy snowfall, and the landscape is white.
