The home is 10km from Manali's main town, a quieter spot on the road towards Rohtang Pass. The property has eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, sleeping up to sixteen guests in total. The rooms are clean and simple, with large windows that let in the mountain light. Many have wood-panelled walls and ceilings, especially the ones on the top floor that feel like warm attic rooms. Things to do nearby.

The home is a good starting point for exploring the Kullu valley. Solang Valley, known for its meadows and adventure sports, is a short drive away. From there, you can access the Atal Tunnel, a 9km-long high-altitude tunnel that provides year-round access to Lahaul and Spiti.

In Manali itself, you can visit the Hadimba Devi temple, a four-tiered pagoda-style structure made of wood, set in a cedar forest. Old Manali has a different pace, with small cafes and shops. A short drive away are the Vashisht hot springs, where you can take a dip in the public baths. For a day hike, the Triund trek starting from near McLeodganj offers a direct view of the Dhauladhar mountain range, though it requires an early start from Manali.

Getting there.

By air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu, about 60km away. Flights are limited and weather-dependent. Chandigarh International Airport (IXC) is the more reliable option, about 300km away, with better connectivity.

By rail: The nearest major railway station is in Chandigarh. From there, it's a 7-8 hour drive to Manali. The scenic Kalka-Shimla toy train is another option to reach Shimla, followed by a road journey to Manali.

By road: Manali is well-connected by road from Delhi and Chandigarh. The drive takes you through the Himalayan foothills along NH-3. The town serves as a major road hub for journeys further into Lahaul, Spiti, and Ladakh.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The best months to visit are from March to June, when the weather is pleasant and the snow begins to melt. A second window opens from September to November, offering clear skies and crisp air after the monsoon. The monsoon season, from July to August, sees heavy rainfall and can cause landslides on the highways. From December to February, the region receives heavy snowfall, which can be beautiful but may also lead to road closures.
