Getting there.

By Air: The nearest major airport is Gaggal Airport (DHM) in Dharamshala, though Pathankot Airport (IXK) is also an option. From either airport, it's a long, scenic drive of several hours into the Chamba valley to reach Bharmour. Taxis are available for hire at the airport.

By Rail: The nearest major railhead is Pathankot (PTK). From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus for the journey to Bharmour. The drive is mountainous and can take the better part of a day. Chandigarh (CDG) is a larger, more connected railhead, but the road journey from there is significantly longer.

By Road: Bharmour is connected by road to Chamba, the district headquarters. The roads leading into the high Himalayas are narrow and winding. Expect travel times to be slow, averaging 4-6 hours for every 100 km. The drive itself is part of the experience, with views of the Ravi river and the Pir Panjal range.

Best time to visit.

The best time to visit Bharmour is from March to June, when the weather is pleasant and the snow from winter has melted. The skies are clear and the days are warm. A second window opens up from September to November, post-monsoon, offering crisp air and unobstructed views of the mountains.

The monsoon months of July and August see heavy rainfall, which can cause landslides and road closures on the national highways. Winter, from December to February, can be very cold with snowfall, potentially blocking access roads.
