The drive takes roughly three hours under normal road conditions, following the highway south toward Anantnag before turning east along the Lidder River road up to Pahalgam. Private taxis are available from the airport terminal.
Banihal Railhead is the closest railway station, situated 110 kilometers away through the mountain tunnel. Travelers taking the train into Banihal usually hire a private vehicle to complete the drive into Pahalgam.
Anantnag acts as the key road hub and district headquarters, located 45 kilometers down the valley. It is the last major town with full markets, medical facilities, and fuel stations before ascending into Pahalgam. Srinagar sits 95 kilometers away and serves as the primary departure point for most visitors to the state.
