A look around
What's here
The first thing you notice is the view from the balcony. The Beas river flows below, and the town of Pandoh sits across the water, with the hills rising behind it. It’s a good place for a cup of tea in the morning. This is a large home, built for groups. There are 50 rooms in total, each with its own modern bathroom. The rooms are spacious and kept clean, with comfortable beds and fresh linens. Many have private balconies looking out towards the river. As one guest put it, the rooms are "spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and all the basic facilities needed for a relaxing stay." There is a swimming pool, which guests call "very neat & clean". An indoor recreation area has a table tennis table and some gym equipment, with large windows that face the mountains. For those travelling for work, a conference room is also available. The team here is often mentioned by name. Venika and Bhupinder, in particular, are remembered for their attention to detail. As one guest who arrived late after a long drive from Bangalore noted, "Venika patiently listened to our situation and ensured everything was smoothly taken care of on our arrival." The food is fresh and tasty, a welcome meal after a long day on the road.

Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

The home is a good stopping point on the main artery through Himachal, National Highway 3. From here, you can drive north towards the Kullu Valley or west towards Dharamshala.

Manali is a few hours' drive north. It's the hub for visiting Solang Valley, the Vashisht hot springs, and the Hadimba Devi temple. The Atal Tunnel, just beyond Manali, now keeps the route to Lahaul and Spiti open for more of the year.

To the west lies Dharamshala and McLeodganj, the seat of the Dalai Lama. You can visit the Tsuglagkhang complex or take the day trek up to Triund for views of the Dhauladhar range.

Further on from Dharamshala is Bir, known for paragliding. The season peaks in October and November, when flyers from around the world come to take off from Billing, the world's second-highest launch point.

Logistics

Getting there.

By Air: The nearest major airport is in Chandigarh (IXC), a reliable plains airport about 200 km away. Bhuntar Airport (KUU) near Kullu is closer but has limited, weather-dependent flights.

By Rail: The nearest major railhead is also in Chandigarh. From there, it's a taxi or bus ride into the hills. For a more scenic route into Himachal, the Kalka-Shimla toy train is a UNESCO World Heritage line, though it ends in Shimla, a separate drive from Mandi.

By Road: The home is right on the highway connecting Chandigarh to Manali. Mandi is a major town and bus depot in the region, with frequent service from Delhi, Chandigarh, and other parts of Himachal.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The best months to travel through this part of Himachal are from March to June, when the snow melts and summer arrives. The skies are clear again from September to November, after the monsoon.

July and August see heavy rains, which can cause landslides on the highways. From December to February, the upper reaches around Manali receive snow, but the roads to Mandi usually remain open.
