Driving through the nine-kilometer tunnel brings you straight into the high-altitude landscape of Lahaul near Jispa. Keep warm layers accessible inside your vehicle, as temperatures drop noticeably when emerging from the north portal into the open valley.
The Spiti loop route connects Jispa to high mountain villages including Kaza, Ki monastery, and Kibber. Open primarily from June through October, this high-mountain road circuit requires slow driving over unpaved passes and rocky river crossings.
