Ziro has a small homestay scene run by Apatani families. Expect: basic rooms, clean beds, home-cooked Apatani meals (rice plus fish plus greens), simple bathrooms.

- Pike pila: fermented bamboo shoot chutney, sharp and tangy - Tapyo: alkaline salt made from banana leaves - Apong: rice beer, cloudy and slightly sour - Koji: grilled fish with spices

What about combining with tawang?

Many guests combine Ziro with a longer Arunachal trip. Ziro plus Bomdila plus Tawang is a 10 to 12 day route. Worth it for the photography and cultural depth.
