What about the scheme, in plain facts?

Authority: Department of Tourism, UT of Lakshadweep Administration, Kavaratti. The permit is issued by a Competent Authority notified by the department.

What about what a homestay must have?

Part A of the guidelines sets these conditions for hotels, resorts and homestays:

What about environmental safeguards that apply to everyone?

Anchoring in corals or reefs, touching, collecting or damaging corals and marine life, and fuel leakage, plastic litter or waste discharge into lagoons are strictly prohibited. Other illegal acts are punishable under existing law.

What about what the source does not say?

There is no fee, no room limit, no owner residency rule, no guest register rule, no processing time and no online portal in the document. The guidelines also do not cover the separate entry permit that visitors need for the islands, which we did not read.

Is the Lakshadweep homestay rule final?

Yes. It is a departmental notice dated 19 August 2026, in force from 1 September 2026.

I already run a homestay. Am I covered?

Yes. Existing units were required to get a permit by 30 September 2026. Contact the department about your status.

How long is the permit valid?

Three years from the date of issue.

The documents do not state a fee. Ask the Department of Tourism.

We recommend registering on the central NIDHI portal as well. It is a separate registration.

What about once you are registered?

Registration makes you legal. Distribution makes you earn. Fursat lists your home and keeps your calendars in sync across the major booking sites. Start at /list-your-property, or read how the free channel manager works first.
