Under Rule 4 of the 2008 Rules:

What about how to apply?

What about obligations and restrictions?

- Tell the district Foreigners' Registration Officer about any foreign guest within 24 hours of check-in. - Keep a guest register (paper or electronic) and preserve it for five years. - Send guest information to the local authority and the police every fortnight, on the 15th and the last day of the month. - Do not keep a front office, so the house looks like a normal residence. What about what this means for south and central delhi owners?

A Delhi unit is a room-in-your-home product, not a small guest house. If you live upstairs and let the ground floor, you may qualify. If you let out more than two-thirds of your bedrooms, or the owner lives elsewhere, you need a different category such as a licensed guest house.

How many rooms can a Delhi bed and breakfast have?

Not more than two-thirds of the bedrooms, with a minimum of one double-bed room and a maximum of five double-bed rooms.

Does the owner have to live in the house?

Yes. The Act requires the premises to be purely residential, with the owner physically residing there with the family.

How much does registration cost?

Rs 3,000 for Silver and Rs 5,000 for Gold, non-refundable, under the 2008 Rules.

How long is the certificate valid?

Three years, under Section 3 of the Act.

How long does approval take?

The Act says three months. A 2021 amendment reduces this to one month once the Government notifies it into force.

We recommend registering on the central NIDHI portal as well. It is a separate registration.

What about once you are registered?

Registration makes you legal. Distribution makes you earn. Fursat lists your home and keeps your calendars in sync across the major booking sites. Start at /list-your-property, or read how the free channel manager works first.
