What's here
The first thing you notice is the view. From the balcony, the whole valley opens up below, green and quiet. The home itself is a simple, modern build, with two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The rooms are kept neat and clean, designed to let you focus on the landscape outside. The real draw is the connection to the outdoors. A small garden brings in birds you might not have seen before. The air is clear. Guests often mention the feeling of being at home here, a sense of quiet that’s hard to find. As one visitor, Cat Udell, put it, “The room is beautiful with panoramic views across the valley and very spacious.” Another guest noted, “The food felt truly homely - fresh, tasty, and made with care.” The kitchen serves simple, fresh meals for breakfast and dinner.

“We had a last minute stay with this property and it was a really pleasant experience. The room is beautiful with panoramic views across the valley and very spacious. The garden is full of flowers which draws in lots of birds, many of which I've never seen before. The food here is also so delicious and the team can't do enough to help.”

Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

The home is a good starting point for exploring the Kangra valley. A short drive takes you to McLeodganj, the residence of the Dalai Lama. You can visit the Tsuglagkhang complex, the main temple, and walk the kora circuit with pilgrims.

For walkers, the Triund trek is a popular day hike. It’s a four-hour walk up to a ridge with a direct, wall-like view of the Dhauladhar mountain range. It’s best to start early in the morning to avoid the afternoon sun.

About two hours away is Bir-Billing, known as one of the world's best sites for paragliding. The peak season is from October to November, when the thermals are just right. You can book a tandem flight and land in the fields at Billing.

Logistics

Getting there.

By air, the nearest airport is Gaggal Airport (DHM) in Dharamshala. It has limited flights, and weather can sometimes cause delays. The most reliable major airport is Chandigarh International Airport (IXC), about a 5-6 hour drive away.

By rail, the nearest major station is Pathankot, which is well-connected to Delhi and other parts of India. From Pathankot, it’s a 2-3 hour taxi ride to Dharamshala. For a more scenic journey, you can take the toy train from Kalka to Shimla, though Shimla is a different region of Himachal.

By road, Dharamshala is the main hub for this part of the state. Roads in the hills are often single-lane with sharp turns. A 100km journey can easily take four to six hours, so it's best to plan for a slow, scenic drive.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The clearest weather is from March to June, as the snow melts and summer arrives, and again from September to November, when the skies are crisp and blue. These are the best months for trekking and long-distance views.

The monsoon season, from July to August, brings heavy rain, mist, and the risk of landslides on the main highways. Winter, from December to February, sees snowfall in the upper reaches of Dharamshala, and it can get very cold.
