Nearest airport: Leh (IXL) (245km — via Kargil; closest commercial airport)
Nearest railhead: Jammu Tawi (600km — nearest railhead, then road)
Road hubs: Kargil (245km — via Suru Valley; the standard route, June-Oct); Manali (470km — via Shingo La pass; only July-September, 4×4 only, no fuel pumps for 200km)

The journey to Padum is part of the experience. The roads are challenging, especially the route via Manali.
