The home is set away from the main town, in a quiet spot surrounded by forest. The property is made up of three simple wood-and-bamboo cottages, each with its own bedroom and attached bathroom. The rooms are basic and clean, with king beds and access to a small balcony. The real heart of the stay is the hospitality. The owner and his wife live on the property and are deeply involved in the guest experience, from sharing local tips to preparing meals. As one guest, Azhar Ansari, put it, "Meals are simple, organic, fresh and comforting, encouraging slow, relaxed conversations at the table." The food is wholesome and locally inspired, often served outdoors at the dining table or around the fire pit on cooler evenings. This is not a place of formal luxury, but one of genuine connection. The hosts' approach is personal and warm. Another guest, Koyel Banerjee, said they are "one of the best and friendliest hosts I have ever experienced." The focus is on unwinding in nature, with the quiet of the hills as a backdrop.

Getting there.

Under 30 minutes by car from the middle of Namchi (drive time: Google Maps). By air: The most reliable airport is Bagdogra (IXB) in West Bengal, approximately 124km away. From the airport, it is a 4 to 5-hour drive to Namchi by hired taxi. Pakyong Airport (PYG) is closer to Gangtok (about 30km), but flights are often diverted due to weather.

By rail: The nearest major railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), near Siliguri. It is about 122km from Namchi and well-connected to major Indian cities. Taxis are available at the station for the drive up into Sikkim.

By road: Namchi is well-connected by road to other towns in Sikkim like Gangtok and Pelling, and to Siliguri in West Bengal. Roads in the hills can be winding, and travel times can vary depending on weather and traffic.

Best time to visit.

The best time to visit Sikkim is in the spring, from March to May, when the rhododendrons are in full bloom across the state. Another clear window is in autumn, from October to mid-December, when the skies are often clear, offering good views of the mountain ranges. The monsoon season, from June to September, sees heavy rain which can cause landslides and road closures, particularly in North Sikkim.
