Logistics
Getting there.
Nubra Valley is accessed via Leh (IXL), which is 150km away. The drive over Khardung La pass (5,359m) takes about 5-6 hours. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. There is no railhead directly to Nubra; the nearest is Jammu Tawi (750km), requiring travel to Leh by air. The village of Hunder, with its sand dunes and camels, is 7km from the house.

The best season to visit Nubra Valley is from May to September. Roads can be affected by snow from Khardung La during the shoulder months.
