Tawang Monastery sits just a short drive from the house. Founded in the 17th century and known historically as Galden Namgey Lhatse, it remains the largest Buddhist monastery in India. Visitors can walk the courtyard, visit the main prayer hall in the early morning, and explore the ancient library housing traditional scriptures.

Sela Pass and Sela Lake sit along the highway at an elevation of 4,170 meters. The pass serves as the high mountain gate into the Tawang valley, with its high-altitude lake remaining frozen solid through the winter months.

Madhuri Lake, officially named Sangetsar Tso, lies 45 kilometers from Tawang town. Surrounded by fallen trunks of submerged trees and steep rocky crags, the lake earned its popular local moniker after the filming of a Bollywood movie on its shores.

Bumla Pass sits 37 kilometers from Tawang along the Line of Actual Control with China. Visiting requires a specialized border permit and a four-wheel-drive vehicle, both of which host Lobsang can arrange with trusted local drivers.
