The rush of river water hits before you step off the road. To reach the house, you walk across a single pedestrian footbridge suspended over the stream, carrying your bags over the water to the quiet bank on the far side. The multi-storey house sits directly above the riverbank, built with timber panelling and large glass windows that look out toward the steep pine slopes and snow-dusted ridges above. Inside, the home offers 5 bedrooms, 5 beds, and 5 bathrooms, accommodating up to 10 guests comfortably. Each room is designed around timber wall linings and large window frames, fitted with king beds and step-in showers in the private attached bathrooms. Upper-level bedrooms open directly onto broad wooden balconies where you can watch the morning sun hit the peaks, while ground-floor spaces open out toward the lawn. Wooden winder staircases connect the levels inside. Out in the garden, low stone walls divide the grass from the fast-flowing water. Set of rattan chairs and small tables sit right at the river edge, giving you a place to drink hot tea while watching the water move over the rocks. Host Satish manages the property day to day, helping with local directions and room needs, while Bhabhi prepares fresh home-cooked food. Meals are cooked to order, offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes served in the dining area. Guests often talk about the arrival and the food when describing their stay. Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel sit further up the main valley corridor. The 9km tunnel keeps the road link between the lower valley and the high-altitude landscape of Lahaul open throughout the year. It makes for a straight day trip if you want to see the terrain change from green pine slopes to high mountain desert.

Hadimba Devi Temple, Old Manali, and the hot water springs at Vashisht offer classic village walks. You can spend an afternoon walking through old wooden village structures, stopping at small roadside eateries, or visiting the natural sulfur baths near Vashisht.

Bir-Billing is reachable for those interested in tandem paragliding. Billing serves as the takeoff site on the meadow ridge, while Bir sits in the landing zone below. October and November bring the clearest thermals and busiest flying conditions of the season.

Getting there.

Bhuntar Airport (KUU) in Kullu is the closest air hub for reaching this part of Himachal Pradesh. Flight availability varies by weather, so Chandigarh International Airport (IXC) serves as the primary and most reliable long-distance flight connection in the plains.

Pathankot and Chandigarh are the main broad-gauge railway stations connecting the region to major Indian cities. Alternatively, the UNESCO heritage toy train line runs from Kalka up to Shimla for a slower, mountain-rail route into the state.

Vehicles drop off along the main valley road across the water. Dedicated parking space is available on the roadside directly opposite the property bridge. From the parking spot, you walk across the footbridge to enter the home grounds.

March through June brings pleasant weather as the winter snow melts and high passes open up, making it ideal for outdoors and riverfront mornings. September through November brings clear post-monsoon skies, sharp ridge visibility, and cool evening temperatures.

The monsoon months of July and August bring heavy rain across Himachal Pradesh, which often leads to landslides and travel delays along main transport corridors like NH-3 and NH-21. December through February drops temperatures close to freezing, bringing snow to the upper ridges framing the house.
