What's here
Morning light hits the natural stone exterior of the home, illuminating the white scalloped trim along the gables and the warm wooden entrance door. The gravel drive opens up into a private lawn lined with native greenery and tall pine trees in Purukul. Stepping inside, high vaulted ceilings and broad wooden beams create an airy feeling throughout the main floor, paired with soft lighting and floral upholstery. The home has three spacious bedrooms, each fitted with a double bed, soft bedding, and an attached private bathroom. The master bedroom has a carved wooden four-poster canopy frame with draping fabric, framed views of the garden through multi-pane windows, and armchair seating for quiet reading. Bathrooms are finished with warm wood paneling, marble counters, modern porcelain vessel sinks, and dedicated geysers ensuring hot water. Common spaces are designed for unhurried days with family or friends. The living area holds deep seating, hand-selected decor, and low shelves stacked with books and board games for guests of all ages. Outside, white wrought-iron garden chairs gather under the shade of a flowering bougainvillea tree, offering a spot for tea during the day or a bonfire on cool mountain evenings. Guests have full access to the kitchen to handle their own food preparation throughout their stay. Mussoorie sits a short drive up the hill road, offering day trips to historic walking trails, local markets along the Mall Road, and points across the valley.

Rishikesh is accessible for an evening trip to experience the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan, where riverbank prayers light up the water at dusk.

Jim Corbett National Park sits further south in the Western Himalaya region, known for tiger safaris through the Ramnagar gate between October and June.

Logistics

Getting there.

Dehradun Airport (DED), also known as Jolly Grant Airport, is the closest aviation entry point. It handles regular direct flights from major Indian cities, and private taxis can be hired outside arrivals for the drive into Purukul.

Haridwar Railway Station serves as the primary broad-gauge railhead for the Garhwal belt, connecting long-distance trains from across India. Local taxi operators run frequent transfers from the station up to Dehradun.

Dehradun local railway station is situated right in the city center, providing additional rail connectivity for regional trains.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

Dehradun and the Purukul valley offer distinct seasonal appeal throughout the year.

March through June brings pleasant daytime temperatures and clear mountain skies, perfect for sitting out on the lawn or taking shade under the bougainvillea.

September through November brings cool, crisp weather following the monsoon, with sharp visibility across the surrounding hills.

Monsoon season during July and August paints the surrounding slopes deep green and fills the air with mist, though mountain roads require attentive driving during heavy rains.

Winter from December to February brings chilly nights that are best spent around an outdoor bonfire or inside with the room heaters on request.
