I stayed here for one night on 31st December 2025, and it was an exceptionally wonderful experience. The owner, Mr. Rai, is a retired Indian Army veteran with 16 years of active service. He is a man of strong principles, discipline, and integrity. He does not allow unmarried couples—regardless of payment—and does not ask for any advance for room bookings, which speaks volumes about his values. Mr. Rai is extremely warm and knowledgeable, having served internationally and trained in the UK. His wife prepares delicious, homely food—I had one of the best lunches during my trip, made with fresh vegetables and eggs. The rooms and washrooms were spotless, equipped with a geyser, and offered stunning Kanchenjunga views directly from the room. Though there is no Wi-Fi, this is common in Chatakpur due to connectivity issues and fewer tourists—and honestly, it adds to the peaceful experience. What truly stood out was their thoughtful hospitality: providing hot drinking water, a flask of hot water for the night without being asked, and even separate sandals for the washroom—small details that reflect genuine care. I absolutely loved the stay and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Chatakpur.

We had a wonderful experience at Chatakpur Barse Eco Homestay. The owner made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. His wife cooked absolutely delicious, home-style meals that we will genuinely miss. The stay felt very safe, peaceful, and warm. We spent a lot of time talking with them and sharing stories — it honestly felt like being at home in the mountains rather than staying at a homestay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm, authentic, and heart-warming experience in Chatakpur.

The most exciting place is the open rooftop. Whole Chatakpur and Sleeping Buddha range is visible from the roof. The view point is easy to access from this homestay. Kali pokhri is also nearby. The food at the homestay are very tasty and homely. I would strongly recommend Barse Homestay who ever comes to Chatakpur.
