The drive off the main road leads to a flat dirt clearing framed by betel nut palms, wild pineapple plants, and banana foliage. In the dirt courtyard, sturdy wooden benches are arranged around a stone fire pit, where guests gather in the evening as dusk settles over the Khasi forest. Inside, the two-storey building opens into wide, airy rooms with simple furnishings and high ceilings. Across three spacious bedrooms, five beds provide sleeping space for up to ten people. In the larger family rooms, two double beds sit side-by-side with wooden headboards, crisp white linens, folded bath towels, and bed runners. Cane armchairs and small wooden side tables sit near the windows, providing a quiet spot for morning tea. Each bedroom connects directly to an attached bathroom fitted with dark marble-pattern wall tiles, white pedestal washbasins, modern chrome taps, and wall-mounted hairdryers. On the upper floor, heavy timber doors open onto a private balcony with black metal railings. Sitting on the upper level places you right at canopy height, facing tall betel trees and dense green hillsides. Downstairs, the host team handles daily cooking, preparing custom meals for breakfast and dinner based on what each family or group prefers. Whether you request light breakfasts, local Khasi dishes, or tailored dinners for children, everything is made fresh in the kitchen.
