A look around
What's here
The rooms are spacious and kept very clean. Each one opens onto its own terrace, a private space for morning tea or a shared dinner with friends. The home has one bedroom with a king-sized bed and an attached bathroom, suitable for two guests. The real heart of the stay is the food and the service. Guests often mention the meals first. One called the food "delicious and mouthwatering... an absolute star of my stay!" The host, Oswin, and his staff look after visitors well. They provide prompt room service and cater to small needs that make a difference. As one guest, Sigrid, noted, they "even packed meals for me when I was on the road." It’s a place where, as another visitor put it, "Every need was catered with utmost perfection making us feel so important."

Around the stay

Things to do nearby.

Tura is the main town in the Garo Hills, a part of Meghalaya with its own distinct culture and landscape. The hosts can help arrange tours to nearby spots.

Nokrek National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is a key attraction. It's known for its population of red pandas, Asian elephants, and the endemic citrus species, *Citrus indica*. The drive itself is through thick, green forest.

Other places to explore in the region include the vast Siju Caves, known as the third-longest cave system in India, and Balpakram National Park, often called the "Land of Spirits" in Garo folklore.

Logistics

Getting there.

The most common way to reach Tura is by road. The nearest major airport and railway station are in Guwahati, Assam. From Guwahati, it is a 5 to 6-hour drive to Tura. Shared and private taxis are available at the airport and railway station. The drive is scenic, passing through the plains of Assam before climbing into the hills of Meghalaya.

Seasons

Best time to visit.

The best months to visit Tura and the Garo Hills are from October to April. The weather is dry and pleasant, making it ideal for sightseeing and exploring the outdoors. The monsoon season, from June to September, brings heavy rainfall. While the landscape becomes incredibly green and lush, travel can be more difficult and some attractions may be inaccessible.
