The home is a five-minute walk from Har ki Pauri, the city's most sacred bathing ghat. The main Ganga Aarti here is an essential experience, a nightly spectacle of fire, chants, and devotion. You are also opposite the Ganga, with other smaller ghats easily accessible for a morning dip. The Mansa Devi Temple ropeway is also within walking distance.
Haridwar is a gateway to the Garhwal Himalaya. Rishikesh, the yoga and rafting hub, is just an hour’s drive away, with its own famous Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan. For longer trips, this is the starting point for the Char Dham Yatra. Further afield, you can plan excursions to Jim Corbett National Park (October-June) for tiger sightings, or head higher into the mountains towards the ski meadows of Auli or the trekking base of Chopta, home to Tungnath, the world's highest Shiva temple.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun (DED), about an hour's drive away. Haridwar Junction (HW) is the main railhead and is well-connected to major Indian cities. The city is a major road hub, easily accessible by bus or car from Delhi and other parts of North India.
Haridwar is a year-round destination. The best months for clear skies and pleasant weather are from March to June and again from September to November. The monsoon season, in July and August, can bring heavy rains and occasional disruptions. Winters (December to February) are cold but clear. Be mindful of the Char Dham Yatra season (typically May to October), which brings very heavy crowds and traffic to the entire region.
