The property is spread across several cottages, with a total of eight bedrooms and eight attached bathrooms, sleeping up to sixteen guests. Some rooms, like those in the Longview cottage, are on the ground floor and are suitable for elderly family members. Inside, the rooms are kept clean, with classic wooden furniture and large windows looking out into the trees. A long, sunlit corridor with geometric marble floors connects the common spaces. The team is led by Mahipal, with caretakers like Shibu, Ankit, and Suraj on hand to help. Shimla, the state capital, offers a classic hill-station experience with its Mall Road and colonial architecture. The Kalka-Shimla toy train, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a scenic way to travel into the hills.

Getting there.

By Air: The closest major airport is Chandigarh (IXC), which has reliable, year-round connectivity to major Indian cities. Smaller airports exist in the hills at Shimla (SLV), Bhuntar near Kullu (KUU), and Gaggal near Dharamshala (DHM), but flights here are limited and often subject to weather conditions.

By Rail: The nearest major railhead is Chandigarh. From there, you can hire a taxi for the journey into the hills. Kalka is the starting point for the toy train to Shimla, and Pathankot is the main railhead for accessing the Dharamshala and Kangra region.

By Road: The home is accessible by road. From Delhi or Chandigarh, you will drive on National Highways before turning onto the smaller state and local roads that lead into the mountains.

Best time to visit.

The best time to visit is during the spring and summer months from March to June, when the weather is pleasant. A second window of clear skies opens up after the monsoon, from September to November, which is ideal for trekking and outdoor activities.

The monsoon season, in July and August, sees heavy rainfall and can cause landslides on the main highways. The winter months from December to February bring snow to the upper reaches of Himachal, and while beautiful, can sometimes lead to road closures.
